Have you ever had to give up your independence? Why?

I lived on my own for about fifteen years. At first it was quite an adjustment, but I got used to it and loved it. A couple of years ago, I became disabled and could no longer work or afford to stay in my apartment. My best friend invited me to stay with him rent free and at first I was sad of course about leaving my apartment, (I had it all decorated the way I wanted it). But once I moved in it was actually fun and we get along great. I have two rooms of my own and I now enjoy it.

Yes, I have had to give up my indepenence when I was shot in the leg and disabled. I can do alot more now. But not what I should be able to. Shortly after it happen. My husband flew down to Florida. (we lived in Ohio than)He stayed for three weeks. Those three weeks was the worse. being on crutches and barely able to use them. Crawling to the bathroom and hoping I make it there in time. (crawling was faster than trying to use the crutches). Needless to say my 13 yr old teen was of no help at all. He refuse to help do anything. because he didn't want to move. He thought if he didn't help pack or cook. We wouldn't move. He was sadly mistaken.
