I personally have never been stung, so i am lucky. My son Mikey on the other hand has been stung many times. When he was four we were out camping and he managed o step in nest of bees. he got stung over 50 times. I is a good thing he wasn't allergic. I think insects are attracted o certain people for one reason or another and sting them more than others. So, have you ever been stung?? Do bees scare you? Are you allergic to bee stings??

I've been stung a few times-- fortunately I am not allergic, at least not heavily. I did swell just a lil bit at the point of impact. Even without too much of a reaction though, I really don't care to be around bees. It might just be all the sci-fi/horror stories and movies out there that I experienced as a kid...

Never.. thank GOD!
Princess, quit scaring me of bees, ok? I am scared of bees. Though if I get bitten by a worker bee, he will die for sure while I may still live, I still don't want to get bitten! No way!!

Yes I was and I am allergic to bee stings too so the last time it was a bit scary.
But usually bees leave me alone.
THe ones that don't leave me alone are mosquitos( darn melgas as we called them back home ) I love to go camping but it's annoying that there could be 50 people there and I will be the one those silly things will be feasting on. ANd I usually get huge raised bumps because of my allergy.
Because I am allergic to bees I am usually weary around them. I usually try to stay as still as possible so I don't get them angry at me lol

When I was 11 I was stung twice in the same place, same part of the body, at the same time and on the same day exactly a week apart! Spooky or what? I'm not allergic to bees but then you can develop an allergy at any time so I would still rather avoid it! lol Your poor son - it must have hurt a LOT! xxxx

When I ws about 3-4 years of age I sat on a bee and it stung my bum, my mum told me this years ago and she said at the time it wasn't funny but looking back now it was. Been stung on the face by wasps as we had a nest in our old house but the only run in I have ever had with a bee

I have been stung a few times in my life, but thank goodness it hasn't been for quite sometime. *knocking on wood* I am not allergic to bee stings or at least wasn't before. I hear it can always change. I hope to not get stung again if ever or for a VERY VERY long time.

Yep I have been stung by a bee and a wasp and it wasn't fun :( I cried bad bee and wasp! at least I wasn't allergic to it. I was about 8 or nine when I got stung by a bee and at the age of 14 by a wasp. Of course bees scares me after what it did to me but not allergic to it.

Wow, your son had been stung over 50 times? OMG, that must of been a horrible experience for him (and you)...even more so with him being so young at the time. Does he happen to remember it?
Yes, I've been stung. Possibly twice in my life. I say possibly, because I think I might have gotten stung when I was a kid. I'd been barefoot (something I rarely ever did back then) on a friend's lawn when I felt a sting like sensation on one of my feet. I never did find the bee or the stinger, so it might have been something else.
The other time I know for certain that I had gotten stung. It had happened a few years ago...
I'd been a regular day and I'd gone outside to water the lawn. There'd been honey bees buzzing all around one of the faucets. I tried to be careful, but I made the mistake of putting my hand on top of a wooden post that's next to it without looking...right over bee! I didn't know it had been there until it started wiggling under my hand. By the time I realized it was a bee and lifted my hand away, it was too late...it had stung me...right on one of my fingers.
I pulled the stinger out immediately and told my husband what happened. He asked me if I had pulled it out without getting any of the venom into my finger. I didn't know and it didn't look like I had. My finger looked fine and it didn't hurt at all. (Boy, was my husband jealous! LOL He'd gotten stung a few times in the past and he always swelled up.) Anyway, the next day my finger was all swollen and it was hard. Not to mention hot! So, I guess I got some of the venom, after all.
Boy, talk about a fun experience. Although I have to admit I thought it'd be a lot worse.
Happy mylotting!
PS I notice this discussion is 5 years old. So, have you been stung since, or have you been lucky?

Oops, I forgot to add that I'm scared of some bees more than I am of others. Big bumble bees and wasps, I'm terrified of. Honey bees, not so much.

I have not been stung by a bee too. While in school, we were warned not to go near this tree or that tree, especially when a bee hive is detected. When out camping, we were told to wear dark clothes, not colorful ones in case we are being mistaken for a flower. That is feel is one good advice.

I am sorry to know your son had to go through this 50 times.Good that he isn't allergic.Still it is very painful. The whole area burns badly and has throbbing pain.I know this because I have been stung by bees quite many times. Its very strage that every time in the group they chose me to sting.Lol.You can't say that I'm extremely allergic, but yes,I developed temperature every time I was stung.

insects are really scary. they might even bring us infections and diseases. and bee stings are so painful and won't even disappear for many days. so, better get away from those insects.

Yes, I have been stung quite a few times but am luckilt not allergic to them. My husband is though and needs to carry an anaphylactic shock kit with him everyhwere he goes. Somehow our kids have never been stung so I don't know if they are allergic or no but with my husband's history I fear that they may have inhertied the problem and am dreading their first stings.

I used to get stung a lot when I was a kid because I was alway walking barefoot in the grass and the bees would be on the dandelions and the clover. I used to try trapping them in jars just to see how many I could catch in one day and needless to say many times I would get stung. When I was young the spot where I got stung would swell up soooo huge and turn pink. I havent been stung by a bee in many years though but two days ago on my daughters birthday I was walking on my sidewalk and felt something stuck on my foot I looked and was like what in the world is stuck to my foot and then ouch I was stung. It hurt soooo much worse then I remembered. When I was little I would scream and cry for about a half hour after getting stung. I thought I probably over reacted but lol it really does hurt bad enough that I realize why I used to freak out so bad when I was little. I got stung on the 21st and my mother immediately mixed up baking soda and meat tenderizer and put it on their. It stopped the pain quite well. She gave me advil to take as well. I was able to walk on it fine but it was a little sore if my sandle bumped the spot. Each day since then its been bothering me more. My foot is getting more pink and more swollen and itching so bad. I keep expecting to wake up and it be better but its not happening so far.

I have been stung by a bee once. It felt so painful and I had to lie down for one hour after the sting. It stung me on my right toe. I was afraid, because some people are allergic to bees sting. Fortunately I was not allergic to it. My father put some hot massage oil to the affected area, and after an hour I could move around as usual. The next day the swollen was cured totally. Thank God.

I also have never been stung by a bee and I have a big fear of them. If I see one around I will either stop walking that way and wait and see if it leaves or turn and go right back in the house or where ever I came form and watch it from behind the safty of the door before I even will go back out. If its in the house I close the door to the room its in and wait till someone can kill it for me lol.

Well, bees are attracted to fear. They can sense pheromones that you release from your body, so they can almost literally "smell" fear. Your son was probably afraid when he got stung and was flailing around, which makes the bees even more angry. Also, bees usually won't bother you unless you bother them. If you swat at them or accidentally step on them or hit them, they will view you as a threat and attack. I am not allergic, but my husband is. I have been stung maybe 4 or 5 times in my life. I really can't remember. My husband has been stung a couple of times. Ironically, I am terrified of bees and wasps and my husband isn't afraid at all. As a result, bees leave him alone because he is calm whenever bees come around. He said he used to play with bees in clover patches as a child before he knew he was allergic. He didn't hurt them and was calm, so they never stung him then. I have a tendency to freak out around bees, so they are more likely to sting me. I guess that's a good thing if me and my husband are ever together around a bee...they will probably go for me.
