hello mylotters, Lottery has been a most wanted by many of the people and even some of them has become rich too. But in my country, particularly in my state, Lottery tickets are banned. Do you think lotteries spoil the people and should be banned? Or it should not be banned? Share your thoughts.

A lot of things are funded by money from State lotteries (education etc) so I am all for keeping them. What is weird here in Georgia though is that there is at least one lottery every day of the week but there is no legalized sports gambling.I fail to see the difference...what is a lottery if not a form of gambling? People should be allowed to spend their hard earned money however they see fit IMO.

Thats a good point you have made. People should be allowed to spend their money however they want. But since many of my country people lost their money in Lottery, my Government has banned Lottery. What do you think about this view ? Thanks for your response.

in this case, then i should say that they, the lawmakers in your country, made a wise move banning the activity. it is already wreaking havoc in the community. it was only right to correct a wrong occurrence which has been going on.

Of course not. Why should it be banned? Lotteries give hope to the masses. Many people are not rich. In case you have not noticed, the rich are in the minority. Many families still fret over money and sleep restless nights. So let the lotteries stay so that people can at least have one more avenue to get rich through.

One can notice these lotteries are purchased mostly by poor and middle class people.People spent lot of money on this which they need for purchasing some other household necessities. I feel that Indian government can fix a ceiling in selling of lotteries to some extent rather to ban it completely. Its a mere luck and hope some people without money can become rich if they win a lottery.

That is a tough question because it is just like a business, a money making affair. Compare the lotto to an insurance company. It takes a lot and the return is so small. I dont think it should be banned.

Thanks for the response. But dont you think this business is directly spoiling many innocent poor people life ? Because many poor people put their hard earned money in this lottery and loose them all there. What do you think about this?

I don't think it should be banned but I think the sites that try to scam you out of money like send money to whoever to get your prize should be banned. I don't play the lottery because the odds are winning are like 1,000,000 to 1. It's against you and you have to spend money to even hit the right numbers to get the grand prize and that's not an easy task at all. I think they should be around but just the ones that are just state lotteries though.

It is true that many people has received success in lottery.I think, playing lottery is a waste of money, time and energy. If some other kind of money earning is developed, then it is good.

I personally believe the percentage of people who have lost in these lotteries are much more than the people who have earned a lot in them. What do you think? Do you feel it should be banned. Or you feel its up to the person to show the interest on it? Thanks for the response.
