Why are Eminem's songs so popular ?

Friends, Why are Eminem's songs so hugely popular? I mean there are lots of other rappers who are similar like 50 cents, JayZ, Usher and so on.How did Eminem get so much popularity and command the masses ?

Eminem is popular because of his lyrics. Even his hits all have good lyrics, like Lose Yourself and Sing for the Moment. He is also really good at telling stories (Stan).
8 Mile obviously skyrocketed his popularity and made sure everyone had heard of him.
His anger towards in his relationships with females might help also. It was all fairly real, too.
Actually I'm pretty sure it was the female relationship thing, and him constantly in the "news" with Kim and his daughters and his momma and whatever other female relationships. Because there are good white rappers with good lyrics, similar battle background, but never got the mainstream appeal. (I'm thinking of Atmosphere, among others. But he had a simple battle background. I like Eminem more than Atmosphere though)

I also forgot to add that he brings an important element of hip hop to the table: knowledge. Now this does not account for his popularity, but it does contribute to his strength as an artist.
This is not just because he made politically conscience songs, but he also has made other smart, deep songs.
Also his ties with Dr. Dre helped a lot.

well there are severral reasons for that
1. he is white ( i mean his voice) alot of rappers have the same voice (black voice)
2. his lycris are not about money ladies and how good he is he actually tries to tell us something
3. he is a showman and he all the money/fame he got didnt change that in him, you see alot of artists change during time, eminem does not.

It's because of the lyrics. Some lyrics are just cool and some do are upon his life and other things like violence and stuff going around us. Thats why they touch your heart and you love them.
