HELP!!!! , problem with torent downloading

I am new in using torents, as I see it is a great way that you can download whole serials with yust 1 klick. But there I am runing into into porblem whose solution I didnt found enywhere, nor it FAQ nor in forums, so i will ask you in hope that someone knows something adout that! I was downloading one file, before I started I has have 5.88 GB of free space on HDD, but when i downloaded some 500 MB I sow that i have 3 GB free space left!!!! So i have downloaded 500MB but have lost 2.8 GB of space!!! I understand these 500 MB that has been taken my space, but i am woried about these 2.3 GB of space that has gone in the Wind I am supspecting on the seeding that I doo toward other users.... But why am I losing so much space in HDD , and where that enigmatic space has gone? can i somehow return this space back, or prevent losing it.... PLEESEEEE HELP!!!!
