Welcome to PHP world. As a note, PHP is not for web page designing but to create dynamic pages (this not is because you said you love web page designing). If you have learned C or C++ then it would be easy to learn PHP as PHP have a similar syntax to C language. Knowledge of web servers like apache, DBMS tools like mySql (or just knowledge of database concept) would definitely help you to learn web programming and PHP in much more better way. The best site for PHP is http://www.php.net. Another website I could recommend is http://www.learnphp.org/. Hope that helps you

Yeah you are right. PHP is in great demand now. More and more companies are recruiting people with knowledge in PHP. Due to the same fact a ZEND certification in PHP have become a must if we want to have an edge over other PHP programmers without a certification. All the best

Try http://www.w3schools.com. There's a section on PHP that could help you out. That would be your best bet on that.

you can use php based content management softwares such as joomla, mambo, phpnuke or postnuke for a start. no complex php programming is required but you can learn the basic and create a professional and/or personalize website for your choice.. :)

Although it's not officialy a site, I found that the book "PHP & MySQL for Dummies" is a great book for those who are starting to develop in PHP. I picked up the language very fast and I still have the book around now for a reference guide. The book isn't too costly IIRC and can be picked up from your local WaterStones.
