How are we going to make our environment green. Are there solutions to our present environmental concerns. Are you part of a problem or one to give solutions? Contribute!!! We have only 1 earth to live.

These are all great suggestions! We have abused this planet for so long that the problems now seem overwhelming. I believe the solutions are out there, many are posted here. We COULD solve this problem virtually over night but we won't. That would take everyone working together and that is something that currently seems beyond human capabilities. The powers that be and the corporations that own them won't allow it. We can take steps as individuals though, buy products locally to reduce packaging and refrigeration costs, drive only as much and as far as you absolutely need to, and of course, reduce, reuse and recycle. Baby steps are better than nothing and will take us to our destination eventually.

We have the three bag system here blue, white and green and if your garbage is sorted wrong it does not get taken by the garbage man. I think every City should do this it helps contribute to the enviorment and it creates a surplus with the recycables sales.

This is a good discussion topic which needs everyone's participation. 1. Teach children to grow plants and encourage social forestry. 2. There is no permanent solution to present environment problem, we can only do a little to repair the damages caused for generations. 3. We are part of the problem and we have to find practical solutions. 4. You are right. We have only 1 earth to live and it needs to be taken care properly, like our children.

I think renewable energy is one way to go. An air powered car is going to be available shortly. Of course you need electricity to compress the air. Solar and wind generated electricity could power our homes and offices, maybe sooner than we expect. If the carbon expenditure on making the solar cells is not too much, that will surely save the earth. The new generation of solar cells based on organic dyes and not silicon, will be about 40% cheaper than the current generation, and these solar cells should be available by 2008! Solar electricity is cheaper already in California than purchasing electricity from a utility. (Before or after government subsidy, I do not know!) I think we will be able to save the earth. I do hope we are not too late.
