Its not that I don't want to or no time to but no matter how hard I tried, I can't take naps. Its freaking annoying and its driving me nuts. Any pointers on how to take naps?

I take naps. I eat in the middle of the day and if i don't have anything to do I'll be so tired after I eat that I will juat fal asleep. I f you don't want to gain weight sddon't try this but maybe you could try laying in the bed and watching a movie in the middle of the afternoon until you fall asleep.

I'm just like you too. I can't take naps during the day...no matter how tired I may be. I guess my body is just not used to it. When I had my baby, people keep advising me to nap when my baby is napping but I could not do it. I find myself doing housework, watching TV or just relaxing but not actually sleeping. I've probably only napped a couple of times...and that's when I'm REALLLLLYYY tired. I've tried all kinds of things...reading, taking shower, drinking hot drink, etc. Doesn't work. I guess my body is just not built that way. Why...do you really need to take naps? I don't really need to do it. I function very well with just a good 7 hours sleep each night.

Thats my ultimate worry for the future. But then people will say taking care of a child will drain you off your energy so much you can nap anywhere, anytime

Hello, fidainc,as i read your replies to my discussion,it seems that everything do not work out for you,may be you really need to develop and very healthy sleeping habit, you can start doing this from now on and see whether you will be better later,if you sleep enough at night, you do not even need to take naps during the days.

I thought napping is supposed to be fun and the best thing ever? Well, at least most of my friends thought so.

I can rarely take a nap, too. I have to be very tired or ill to actually take a nap. Otherwise, I lay down, and toss and turn, and think about what I should be doing. In the end, I just get up and start doing stuff instead. I suppose lying down for a bit is better than nothing, but I just can't make myself sleep in the daytime!

This problem could be from your body being so wound up or if you have alot of stress your body doesn't want to rest. so i guess just chill on the couch for an hour or so before you wanna take a nap and just take a load off then you might be able to take a nap. Cuz i know when im really stressed i can't take naps either and i have to tell myself to chill.

maybe the first thing i should learn is how to 'switch off' my brain... but there are times when letting my imagination run in my head while lying down on my bed does rocked me to sleep... but by the time i manage to doze off it'll be 2 hrs or so later
