Cats can get Pink Eye?

I took my cat to the vet last week because when we woke up that morning my kid noticed her eye was red. I was scared (of the vet bill) but took her anyway.
When it was time to pick her up the dr told me she had pink eye. I didn't even know that was possible for cats to get pink eye. He gave us some ointment to put on for 7-10 days and she should be as good as new by then. He said that they can pick it up from an an unresolved respitory infection, or a scratch filled with bacteria.
I am glad it was a quick fix and the vet bill didn't put me in the poorhouse either. Only $50 bucks. So what other ailments can cats contract that are like human diseases?

Be careful dear, as that is contageous. Wash your hands if you touch your cats eyes. Allergies run in humans and cats, as well as colds, upper infections, and stomach aches.

They can get arthritis, cataracts, sinus infections, they have their own form of leukemia and Chlamydia.

Cat Chlamydia is not an STD. It is na eye infection and highly contagious. Check out the link: http://www.fabcats.org/chlamydophilia.html

My cat had a cold earlier this year. And I think he has allergies right now (we go to the vet tomorrow for his annual exam, so I guess I'll know for sure.) I know cats and dogs can get aches and pains from too much exercise or play just like we do too.

I hope his exam went okay. Having allergies is not fun. I would imagine it is worse for animals because we cannot understand what they are saying to us. Hopefully his allergies are seasonal and you won't have to worry about giving him medicine all year. Do they give shots for that all would you be required to give him something daily?
