Could you love someone even if they disappoint you all the time?

I'm finding that my S/O is always disappointing me. He always lets his family take advantage of him in various ways. I've been trying to get him to stop letting them do that. I try to build his self confidence and I give him advice all the time. Sometimes he seems like he's improving and other times he just falls back into the same old pattern. Everytime he doesn't take my advice, things end up badly for him. He always says that I am right with my advice, so why won't he take my advice if he thinks I'm right? I'm not trying to control him or anything, I just want him to be happy. He is not happy with his family treating him so poorly. I want him to stand up to them and take control of his life. It's so frustrating and disappointing when he just lets them walk all over him time and time again. Yet despite all of this, I still love him dearly and could never leave him.
