and I love him very much. He's 17 and still is very sweet. He would let me hug him and kiss him, something that you can only do to a "baby" brother and not someone his age if he is as normal as your ordinary boy out there... How sweet is your autistic sibling, classmate, friend, neighbor, relative, etc.?

you are very special for the love you have for your brother..I have an aunt that is deaf and dumn..this is what they called it..she was born with the cord wrapped tight around her neck..but she is precious to me..she is really very smart..only it is in a different way then the normal you see..I imagine your brother is like that too..he has a very loving family, this I do know!..:)

It's funny (ironic), my autistic son had the cord around his neck too, but the doctors and nurses didn't make a big deal out of it. I know part of it depends on how long the cord was wrapped around for (by what I was told they got the cord off pretty quickly), but this has made my husband suspect it could be why our oldest son is the way he is (not just autistic but "retarded" too). Sorry for the quotes, I just don't see my oldest as retarded. He has shown my husband and I how smart he can be. Not to mention, I just HATE this word! =/

First of all, it is wonderful that you love your brother so much. :) My son, who will be 10 years old this month, is very much like your brother. I have no doubt he will still be like this when he is older. This is one of the things that I love about having an autistic child.
