I hold the door open for people also. I don't so much think that it is rude not to do so though. Anymore it is hard to get a wave or a smile from the people around you. There isn't as much trust in the fellow man these days. I like to be nice to people but I don't expect people to be nice just because I'm there. Things have changed so much!

Yes, I hold the door for others. It's basically a habit for me. I love it when people see you struggling with a baby stroller and they still DON'T hold the door. Now that's RUDE!

LOL. I know that's right! You would think some people were raised in a barn. No manners or respect for others.

I agree. I ALWAYS hold the door for people. I think it is kind and polite to hold doors open for people. I have actually had people shut them in my face before , LOL. I think it is very disrespectful but hey ....like u said...thats them who cares right?

I always hold the door open for people behind me, even when it means waiting a few seconds until they get there. I think it's only polite, though I notice that many people just don't seem to care enough any more to do it. By the looks of the responses here though I can see I'm not the only one who holds doors open. Maybe I'm just continually running into rude people who don't want to hold it open for me...

i also hold the door... It's not really something that i think much about, i just do it to be nice to other people... somedays when i have a bad day, i might not always do it, because i'm too focused on myself, and my problems... so i have nothing against people who dont hold the door.. maybe they just have a bad day ;-)

i guess it depends upon the situation. if the person behind you is like an old woman, go hold it for her.

I was also trained to hold the door. It is a sign of kindness when you hold the door for someone. If someone doesn't hold the door for me, I really don't give it a second thought.

Yes I hold open the door and are really bad for holding the door and letting heaps of people go before me. I actually think its a dying trend and I have only notice the older age groups doing this. I think my son would have to be forced to hold the door open. I will have to keep my eye on this and make sure he is taught before he flys the coop.
