Does singing or listening to music ever help you feel better when you are down?

My S/O did something that really left me feeling extremely upset and disappointed. I thought I was going fall apart and have one of my long crying spells. Then I decided that I didn't have to feel upset if I didn't want to and just started singing a song that usually makes me feel better and it really helped. I did cry a little, but not nearly as much as I would have if I hadn't started singing. Has singing or listening to music ever helped you when you were feeling really upset or depressed?

I think it depends on the type of music. When I'm down, I like a little peppier music, because slower ballads can make me cry a river!

Yes, "the freshmen" makes me cry too. There's a very old song called "Honesty" maybe by Peter Frampton? It's a tear jerker, also!

Listening to music usually always helps me when I'm down. Especially if you find music that you can relate to. It's nice to know people have went through what you're dealing with. Music is very healing. Whether you write a song or sing one it helps you express the way you're feeling or forget the way you're feeling, whichever one makes you feel better works.

I believe that singing or listening to music really help us feel better. They say that it's a good stimulant. When I'm depressed I usually listen to rock music. For me it's somewhat therapeutic. And if you just broke up with someone, or your partner dumped you, try listening to "Over You" by Daughtry. I love this song. It helped me move on and be a little confident about myself. One thing you should remember, don't let depression swallow your whole being. Think of it as a test on how well you keep up with the tragic things happening around you. Overcoming depression is like winning a battle.
