Can you show me proof?

In quite a few discussions you see someone asking if you can show proof of this, that or another. Usually it's been for paid to programs but I have seen it in relation to other things. With this in mind, I wonder just how many of them ask the question in the cartoon shown in the link below. I am listing it as a link so the originator can get credit, lol.

In a similar vein, Monday I was doing my shift at the policing centre. There were a few doughnuts left from Saturday. I was eating one when the office coordinator came in. He asked if they were "still good". I replied, "Define 'good' ." (They were a little dry, but edible.)
