DO you find it easier to make friends on mylot than in real life? I mean on mylot you can see if they are intelligent people, and see a little about their personality than you would be able to in real life? I mean I know mylot is real life, but hopefully you know what I mean.

I'm the type of person who doesn't really make friends that easily, no matter WHAT method I use!
When I started participating in discussions here, my MAIN motivation was 2 CONNECT with others, but I've yet 2 really FEEL that! I've responded 2 MANY discussions, and posted many myself, but I've yet 2 feel a REAL CONNECTION with anyone!
I know, 4 me, that I CAN tell ALOT, from just writing! Not only if they are intelligent (like u mentioned), but I can feel their overall ENERGY, and tell what type of person they are, as far as are they OPEN-MINDED, stubborn, sensitive, compassionate, mean, ALL of that!
In the last 3 years, I've "connected" with more people ONLINE than from meeting them in person 1st.
But, ultimately, I don't think that it really matters, whether it's mylot OR "real" life!
I think it all boils down 2 the INDIVIDUAL!
Some people just make "friends" alot EASIER than others!
I don't need ALOT of connections. I just want a SMALL FEW! But, I want those few 2 be DEEP, SOUL-BONDING relationships.
That's just me!

Yes, I know EXACTLY what u mean, Stacyv81!
I ALSO have high standards 4 friendship, which, I've also found, that MOST people can't seem 2 provide!
That's alright, though.
Like I said, I don't require alot anyway!
Just a few, deep and MEANINGFUL connections, and I'm good!

Much, much easier, I find it so much easier to formulate friendships and some great contacts through Mylot, I guess I can be open, honest, I can be myself if that makes sense, I can be quite shy and less forward when it comes to making friends in real life and find it very very difficult. Mylot has given me so much for that I am grateful, friendship on here is platignum.

Its always easier to communicate with somebody when you can't hear the person's voice, the tone and see the facial expressions. It brings a lack in the conversational features, however its easier to talk this way. And people who are shy find this even more easy.

I do think that there are certain advantages to meeting people here at myLot....by reading their discussions and responses you can learn alot about a person.....while it is possible that a person may not be completely honest...I think that will be easily caught onto.....
I think myLot is real life too....

I've always found it easier to make friends online than offline. I have some social anxiety issues, and while I'm fine if it's structured interaction (like at my work with customers or like a game) once you get people just standing around talking I'm terrified.
I met my husband in a chat room, actually, along with quite a few people who are currently my "offline" friends. It's amazing how much you can find out about things you might not normally talk about everyday when you are talking to someone online. I knew my husband better after a few months of talking online than some people I had dated offline for longer.
I really like mylot and other forums because I can come and go without missing everything. Since I work full-time, often in chat environments everything seems to change while I am gone, and I never even know what was said. On mylot, unless a discussion is deleted, I can always view it later and catch up.
So far I've made quite a few good friends here, that I would hope to continue to talk to and get to know even if for some reason I stopped using mylot.
