What store do you shop at for your dog food and dog supplies?

Do you shop at a national chain like Petsmart or Petco. Or do you go to smaller, more independent stores? Which do you think has better prices? how about service? I usually shop at Pet Supplies Plus for dog food, which a franchised chain. I also shop at Petsmart for dog treats and dog toys.

I get my dog food from a small store near my house because they carry better brands than Petco/Smart. I'm actually not a fan of the big franchise stores because the employees are not knowledgable about anything they sell, and they are trained to push certain products, irregardless of quality. They have been known to give a lot of people a lot of bad advice. I usually mail order any grooming stuff I need from petedge.com. They have great prices on supplies and toys. Everything else I just buy at dog shows because I usually can bargain with the vendors and get stuff dirt cheap. Petco and Petsmart = ripoff.

I wish there were more dog shows around here, I love dogs and would love to get decent prices on quality food for my pure bred mutt.

I usually go with either WalMart or a Food Lion for their food. I find their prices are a little cheaper than PetSmart or Petco. If I want to get special treats and health products I will shop at PetSmart.

I've got my kritters on Blue Buffalo which I can now order online at Walmart.com, I love that it is delivered so I don't have to make a trip just to get dog food.

I usually purchase dog food from grocery stores because it's cheaper. The same is true for dog chews and toys, which I normally get from dollar stores, or discount chains. The only time I get things from a place like Petsmart or Petco is the anti flea and tick medication since they usually have a vetranarian on site who will dispense it to you without having to take your pet to regular vet. The Pet store chains seem very expensive in relation to other stores which I why I rarely shop there for my everyday pet needs.

I usually just buy most of my products for my dog at Walmart, they have the bet prices and they also have most of the same products as the pet specific stores. When it comes to anything medication-like, for example flea prevention or de-worming medication I go to the veterinarian. I have heard some horror stories about animals have adverse allergic reactions for over-the-counter-type pet medications.
