What's your dream job? When I was in Catholic school in Jamaica, I wanted to be a nun, but then then a really cute priest came to our parish and there goes all thoughts of becomming a nun! When I moved to America I thought about becoming a teacher. But then I decided American kids were too rough. For a while I thought of becoming a lawyer, then a CPA, then an IT person. The list goes on and on. Went to college and got a business degree with a concentration in human resources. I worked in human while I was in school, but not since. And what am I doing now? I'm working as a receptionist...and part time at that, as a hospital. Both my grandmother and my mom are good with plants and gardening and I found out a few years ago that I inherited their "gift" so now I'm considering starting a nursery. First I'm going to take the master gardener course offered by my county and who knows? I may be reporting back here that I opened a nursery someday. So what about you? What do YOU want to be when you "grow up"?

Well currently I work in the accounts department in one of the Government Departments. In the future I would like to operate my own business.

Tommy, That's my goal too. I forgot to mention one of the other dream job/career I had...real estate investor. Right now that along with a nursery would make me very happy. What kind of business do you think you'd like to operate?

When I was young, I wanted to be an architect or an interior designer. I used to love drawing houses and deciding how to decorate them... probably had something to do with the fact that I didn't have much say over how my room was decorated while growing up, and our house was much too small for our family. When I got older, I decided that I didn't want to have to do anything that involved me taking calculus in college. :) I narrowed down my choice of majors to about half a dozen, and chose history out of them. English was a close second, but I thought history might be more useful in the long run. My mom always told me that all I could do with a history degree was teach, but I've been working in historical editing for more than 8 years now, and I think that's what I'm meant to do. :)

Good for you. When you mentioned history...no career path came to mind, but you obviously you found one, and one that you love as well. Way to go. Lorna/

i am already advanced in years and yet i still got into your discussion because there are some things which i wnat to share. we must not get disappointed if we will not get what we had set for ourselves to achieve. before, i had always wanted to become a doctor. since i didn't get my parents go signal for it, i was forced by circumstances to take up another one, civil engineering. now, i have decided to go into farming becuase i love it and it is never too late to pursue it. it is good for you that you have found your interest to pursue while there is time for it yet. good luck.

You're right. It's never too late to pursue your dreams. There have been many people who have started successful ventures later in live. Colonel Sanders comes to mind. Go for it!!!

I wanted to be a teacher/doctor/lawyer. Now that I am older, I still wouldn't mind being a teacher but it would have to be at the college or university level, otherwise I would never bother. Being a lawyer flew out the window a long time ago.....Needless to say, I am doing what I want to do - Psyc.

It's wonderful that you're what you want to do. Very few of us are, which is sad. You do what you have to do.
