I have one female guinea pig since 2002. I read about them and I think mine is already pretty old, but she is so nice! yes, they are shy , but in time, they will learn to trus you, and you can hold it in your arm. when they feel good they make a noise like a cat. When they hear the noise of a paper bag they make a noise like a pig. They are easy to please: just some grass , and to hold it in your arms.

I got mine in January. But at that time she was so much of shy nature that every one want to hold her but its really typical. But soon she interact with all my family and now she is the beloved family member as well. When ever she not find any member within 24 hours from my family then she stops eating and shouting so much. So we have to take care of it. But we don't know anything else about this pet. Is there any risk of serious disease to Guinea Pig or to any of my family member through her? Plz Tell me about that all any sort of vaccine needed? Overall she is so cute lovely that i can't start my day without holding her in hands in the morning.

They don't need any vaccines, but you really should get her a friend. Guinea pigs get so lonely if you have a single because they are very social animals. Look into a rescue or shelter near you to adopt rather than buy one from a pet mill.
There are few things guinea pigs could pass along to your family, but there are some zoonotic diseases. I think there is more info on them at www.guinealynx.info if you're still interested.

She will warm up with time. If you haven't already by now, you should get her a friend. Guinea pigs are social animals that do best in pairs or groups.
See if there is a guinea pig rescue near you. In a lot of areas, there is an overpopulation of guinea pigs and several are dying in animal shelters.
