Appeals - have you succeeded before?

Have you had any success before against any appeals? Let's say if you're getting fined for speeding and you believe you did not drive fast at all, did you have any success in appealing your case? My wife just recently won an appeal for the fine that was against her for not having valid ticket when traveling by public transport. When she was issued with fine, she appealed directly and have her boss wrote letter to say she is being honest. After almost two months after she submitted her appeal, she called the infringement department and she has been informed her infringement case has been dropped. She was happy and her $150 fine was canceled. I was happy too, but myself personally never had any luck on appealing the case when I got fined. Cheers!
