Selling a broken camera on ebay. Did I make a good move?

I'm close to ending an auction on a broken digital camera on ebay. This is my third sale on ebay and I am just excited that my camera which has been sitting in a closet for two years has bids up to $51.00. For future reference I am wondering if it is better to pay someone to fix your broken electronics before you sell it or if anyone else has had much luck just selling their broken electronics?

I really hope that in your description of your camera that you were honest and told everyone that it was broke.

Yes I gave as much info as possible, included pictures, answered all questions that came in and posted them on the listing.

Well thats great. I just know a lot of people sell broken things on ebay and don't explain that they are broke. I wasn't trying to be ignorant and say you were one of those people but I stil just had to ask.

I actually am thinking of putting up my phone (like new condition) on ebay and some broken items as well. Not really sure though, since I would like to get a certain amount on my "like new" phone, not whatever I may end up with depending on bids.
Good to know you were able to make some money on the broken items, that gives me hope! Hehe. And I think it's definitely better to sell them off and get something new with the money. No reason to keep fixing something that's already outdated to begin with. Good luck! =)

Good grief you never can tell! As long as you told them it was broken there isn't a thing wrong with it :) I just love ebay!

My husband has sold a broken digital camera on ebay before and didn't have a problem selling it at all. As long as you put in the description that it was broken I wouldn't worry about it all. I wouldn't spend the money to get it fixed and then sell it unless you're sure you can get it fixed cheaper than what you could sell it for. There are a few people out there that collect old cameras for either parts or just to have as part of a collection.

Welcome to Mylot, you mean people acually buy broken cameras? did you tell them it was broke? If you didn't I think that was wrong of you to do that. That's why I don't like to buy anything on Ebay, you never know if something works or not.

hmm, I did not think you can post a broken item on Ebay. I would of never thought to list it on Ebay, good luck to you.
