Would you help someone although he/she doesn't like you?

Would you be able to help someone even if they don't like you or they say bad things about you? I haven't thought about it until now, when my boyfriend proves he's superior to others by doing this. My parents have never liked him much and they have never agreed completely with our relationship, don't ask me why because after 4 years I don't get to understand it either... And despite all the tries they have given to make me quit this relationship and all the ugly words they've said, he still helps them unconditionally whenever they need and it's in his power. I really admire him for this as there are few people who can do it. After all, he doesn't feel obliged to do anything as they have never done anything similar. I'm not saying my parents ask him to help them but don't want him by my side, as they haven't ever asked him a favour...or maybe just once or twice... And he still helps them. I once asked him why he's doing it and he gave me enough clues to realize that he is doing all this for me, because he loves me... You see, these things he does make me feel loved and appreciated and make me love him more everyday... Have you ever done this? Have you ever helped someone who never liked you and didn't want you around?
