Are you a product of your environment?

I been thinking about this question lately. Am I a product of my environment? Do our environment play a role in who we are and how we behave? I'm on the fence with this one because my behavior is a mixture of how I was raised and totally different from how I was raised. I like to consider myself to be an independent thinker but am I truly thinking independetly or am I thinking from my environment perspective?
