Okay, I must admit that in the begining I use to love reality t.v, I believed that it was a way to see fellow average joes and janes on t.v. But now it seems like a elebrity fest, everything is about celbs or trying to use someone to get celeb status. Are we really watching reality t.v or is everything so scripted now that even reality t.v is rehersed? What o you think??? I was watching a show last night and I saw out takes where a scene was not done the way they wanted it so they made them do it over. How is that reality?? Are we being feed what the media just thinks we want to see, or is it true raw emtion?? Can't wait to hear what you all think...

Well, I was surprised to learn recently that guests of the Jerry Springer show are prompted to do and say the things they do and say. It's almost like the WWE. I don't know what shows you are referring to that are scripted out. I really can't see that happening in any reality shows that I watch, but then perhaps I'm not watching the same shows as you.

I heard that the about Jerry Springer a few years ago. If they are prompted on what to say and do then it is not a real talk show but a drama with actors. It all comes down to the bottom line..money. As far as reality shows, I watched the first survivor and liked it, started to watch the second one and lost interest. I just don't seem to enjoy those types of programs. If I watch TV, I would rather it be a drama with a plot, storyline and ending. The only time that I watch TV is before going to bed, so I guess, I just need a bedtime story before drifting off to sleep. I watch TV to escape reality :)

yeah I too was surprised to find that out. There is this show that comes on now that show behind the scenes on the Jerry Springer show, I stopped watching it a long time ago, but now that I know how scripted that show is I won't be watching it even in passing.

i agree. reality tv isn't really reality. they did a show once on reality tv and it talked about how they would edit stuff to make it look more exciting. i have good example. on previews for the real world/road rules inferno 3 they showed anisa and jen talking..and they made it look like jen told anisa to shut the f*** up. but really she was talking to anisa and saying that about another girl. and you are right, now all the shows seem to be about b list celebrities. i used to love fear factor, but it went from average people doing these stunts to only pretty people. and if they managed to through in a normal person in the bunch, everyone made fun of them including joe rogan. I think that these shows will do whatever it takes to get the ratings, including making things look more scandalous than they are.

I don't think there's such thing as "reality tv." Not any more, anyway. Most of those shows are scripted someway or another. I used to love them as well, but now it's so tiring when every. Single. Show is a "reality" one. I do understand why the networks do it, since they don't have to pay any real actors and yet they still get to script. MTV has to be the worst. I rarely watch TV nowadays, I download all the shows I'm interested in (which consist of about 6) and everything else goes ignored by me.
