Ok a few of you will have picked up that Gissi has not been well I would just like to let you all know that he has been better today
Ever since I got him from the Kennels 3 years ago he has been suffering with like a cough and choking, his nose gets blocked up to well I managed to control it
In the Summer he seems to get this a lot and I believe it could be Hay fever but it is bad as he can't breathe properly
Well normally it only lasts about 10 minutes. Yesterday it lasted for hours and he had Problems breathing I was getting scared
Now a few of you will wonder why I did not take him to the Vet well I did not have the money and I am used to him being like this I also did not expect him to go that long
The problem was he started at a time when the Vets where shut which meant calling one out and that costs a fortune
Anyway I did not sleep well and only got 4 hours as I was always checking Gissi to make sure he was breathing
He has not been to bad today I phoned the Vet earlier as Gissi started coughing again
The Vet heard him over the Phone and told me to get some for Hay fever and also allergies
He told me which ones to buy but he said if they do not help Gissi then I have to take him in
I gave him one Tablet earlier and so far he has been ok so I really hope that they will help him or I will be starving for a month lol but I will say I will starve if it sorts my Baby out
And before anyone asks why I have not got Pet Insurance, well he would not be covered for this as he has been to the Vet about it before
So everyone keep your Fingers crossed that these Tablets will help my little Fellow
But Gissi says do not worry he is fine and will be up to mischief again soon

Oh the poor little dear. I hope the pill helps him. I had a dog once that was allergic to grass! He had to get shots every 3 months.
You give gissi a hug for me and Izzy and we will be praying for him.
And you better eat! That will only make you sick and not do a thing for gissi.

Oh the poor little fellow, I hope he is doing well on the tablets. You are such a great owner Gabs as he is always number 1 in your heart.
I don't blame you for not getting pet insurance, its a con as you have to be so up to date with everything before they make a payout, this is why I have never insured my cats!!
I think with Gissi its tissues at the ready and a good facial steam once in a while.

Oh my gabs...I hate to hear that Gissi's been sick and I do hope the medicine helps him....I often don't have the extra money to take my two babes to a vet either, so resort to home remedies that have always helped..Katlady has some good advice there--about the steambath kind of thing in the bathroom...I've done that countless times for my babies in the past who had respiratory problems too and it helped--pets can have allergies too, just like us--give an extra hug to him for me...will you??

My Creamery kitty came complete with cold symptoms that persisted most of the first year I had him, he also coughed up a horrendous tape worm. He has enough Persian heritage to have cramped up nasal passages. He coughed, and sneezed and had mattery eyes for a long time. I am pleased to say that he seems to have finally outgrown it. At one point he did take a round of antibiotics. I am glad that your vet will at least try to help you over the phone. We love our little abandoned pets.

I read a line in your other discussion that says these pills seem to help. I am so glad. We feel helpless when these little ones are sick and they cannot tell us what hurts.

Awwwww I hope the tablet works for him I really do. I could never afford pet insurance. I can barely get it for myself.LOL It might also be allergies and they can give him something for that. But if this pill works then you dont have to take to the vets. Right? I know you starve Gabs you would do anything for your little man. Give him a kiss from auntie Terry. And keep us iformed. Please

You are a very good mommy. I'm glad Gissi is feeling a bit better. I was thinking that maybe, along with the medicine, maybe a humidifier might work for him. Or even taking him in the bathroom while the shower or bath is running, so the steam from the hot water can clear him up a little. When my cat Missy had a bad cough from a reaction to the flea powder I used on her, she ended up in the bathroom while I was taking a shower (unbeknownst to me of course) and it really seemed to help. As usual, please give Gissi lots of snuggling from me. And lots of hugs to you too. Try to get some rest if possible hon.

Lizzie, Gizmo and I are all very sad that Gissi is sick. Lizzie has also been a little under the weather. I think it is summer time allergies also but not as bad as Gissi is going through. I hope Gissi takes his medicine and feels better soon. Maybe we can send a box of kleenex. LOL Nah, Gissie would get to feeling better and then tear the kleenex up and spread them around the house, making another big mess for you. Or Gissi would be writing secret notes on them and sending them to my house. Then I would have a mess at my house. Ok, no kleenex for any of the dogs. LOL

My heart feels sad that Gissi is so sick. He is a joy to you so I know that your heart is sad because he is not the mischievious little fellow he is when he is feeling well. Before you know it he will be up and about and getting into mischieve. I will keep Gissi and you in my prayers.

I guess unlike tests a doctor does for humans, there isn't anything that they can do for doggies to see what he's allergic to. Then you can see what you might have that's bothering him if they did.
