Hey would like to see American Idol take a turn and really get people on the show who preform their own songs and not others? I would really like to see this more than now where they copy other songs it would really show someones real talent and show the originality of a singer.

My problem with this is that if a contestant sings their own song, we have no way of knowing if they are in pitch or not since we don't know the tune. I would rather they stick to songs we know so that we can better judge them.

I think its more wether they are good or not and you dont need to know the song to know that. It still comes down to what sounds great to the ears in pitch or not . Its what we like that wins.
