Spelling and Grammar on myLot

I am very meticulous about making sure my spelling is one-hundred percent correct before I post anything on myLot, whether it be a response or a discussion. I believe that if I have something to say, I should say it right. When I see a post littered with grammatic and spelling errors, it sends the message that the poster does not want to put any effort into posting, ergo their opinion is not even valued by the person who wrote it. That makes me not want to even look at the post. I also try to make minimal grammar mistakes, for the same reasons and to ease the reading of any who choose to do so. I am interested in hearing the thoughts of all of you on this topic, simply because it amuses me. Am I just being a perfectionist, or does quality and spelling ability in posts have a positive correlation? --Also I would like to note that I am aware that there are hundreds of faithful myLot users who are not native English speakers. In most cases this is easily identifiable by reoccurring grammar errors in messages and common language barrier misspellings and in those cases I would never hold it against the poster because I give them indefinite credit for being bilingual when I am not even close to that status.

As long as we can understand each other,I don't think the spelling and grammar on mylot are so important.

I think it can show a lot about a poster though. If someone says to me 'what do u think it is 4? do u like it?' I immediately shy away from answering simply because it is ugly to even look at much the less read. Thanks for the opinion though, that's what a discussion is all about!

Ugh! I find them the exact opposite. They are the epitome of laziness, who needs to abbreviate a word with three letters, honestly!?!

You're my kind of person! Haha! I'm a huge grammar freak and I usually double check my responses before submitting them. A lot of times I do find a typo and it drives me up the wall because myLot lacks a edit button! I also do not reply to people who netspeak, or text speak or whatever it's called. And to be honest I don't even know why anyone would do that here, since we're rewarded for lengthier responses it's senseless to use shortcuts. But it's good to see others here who care about their spelling and grammar. + to you! =)

Hahaha! Nice touch with the '+'! I also am very less inclined to reply to a post that is littered with '4' 'u' and '@' instead of the words themselves. The worst part is, the most often times people use abbreviations here it is for letters with three or less words (see aforementioned net-speak abbreviations). It also irks me when people use abbreviations that I cannot find any logical meaning for, I think that may be the worst thing I encounter on the web as far as the grammar/spelling issue goes.

i think being careful with your spelling and grammar is a good thing..! but as long as i can understand what others are trying to say, then i guess it's not a big problem for me..! :D
