The FDA & Republicans do it AGAIN

Republican senators, probably in the pockets of GlaxoSmithKline, blasted the scientist that was testifying before a committee that the diabetes type 2 medicine known as Avandia should have stronger warnings on the label. As long as 8 years ago this issue was brought up, but the FDA, run by Big Pharma, not the US government, declined to force GSK to put these labels on because GSK insisted it was safe. Want to know what got the Republicans so upset? GSKs stock dropped today. They don't give a hoot about drug safety, all they cared about was their stock dividends.

The FDA has been a corrupt waste of time and money for decades now. It is one of the most useless agencies in a vast sea of government waste that has proven we're just as "safe" without it.

Hearing this story reminds me of the one someoen posted about the head of the FDA in china being found guilty and going to be executed for taking bribes. I think if we just had a few of the members be made examples out of they might take their work a bit more seriously. I am not saying execution but jail time would be more than appropriate in my opinion for a few of them and at the very least firing a bunch more.
