A Christmas birthday

Hi gang! My baby boy was born on Christmas Day 2006 and I'm interested in hearing ideas as for what to do to separate the two events in the future. I don't want him to feel shorted but I also don't want to put extra burden of additional presents on people at Christmas. So far we've heard celebrate 1/2 birthday, like have his party in June OR have Christmas celebration in AM then celebrate birthday in PM or vice versa. If anyone has tried either of these, do they actully work? At what age did you start doing this?
