I asked my 8 year old just a couple days ago why he thought he was alive and he told me "he doesnt know but he feels there is a very good reason and he is just happy to be here". I dont think I could top that answer.

I think we are here to learn certain "life" lessons, which we need in order for our souls to move towards a higher plane of existence. Unfortunately the lessons seem to be learned best through pain of some kind, either emotional or physical. One of the biggest lessons, which so many like myself need to learn, is to be kind and generous to our fellow humans (animals, too). That we are all connected and that what we give out WILL come back to us, good OR bad. Sometimes we are here specifically to help one other person, or a group of people -- and they to help us. There are books about the philosophy that we get together with a group of souls before we are born. We make agreements with these souls to help each other learn the lessons we need to learn here, in life. Even the people who hurt us are fulfilling their part of the bargain.
So, for me, life on this planet is all about learning as much as possible about everything -- not just school subjects.

We are on this planet because the conditions are suitable for it to be that way. The temperature is just right, the correct distance from the sun, the right amount of chemical elements to sustain life.
