Spamming your friends

Look I’ve got nothing against my friends here that are sending good pay site links, and I have done it before, BUT I have only done it where it was requested, or given out freely in a discussion. But after requsting to become my friend and with ten thousand responses on their discussions and not a single one in return, then out of nowhere I get spammed with stuff in my private messages, and wait for this one, on my personal page, comment box. I just thought it was way out of line, and I deleted that person immediately. If I want to know how to go about making money, I have lots of friends here on MyLot that are absolute gurus and I will pm them and request some advice or links, but to load the whole banner tuti fruti unasked in my mail box and page, is just not on. How do you guys feel about that, and has something like this happened to you.

I just ignore those, but I added a new friend who has a goal to educate everyone about the quran. Keeps quoting her scriptures, etc. If it does not show evidence of something else soon, she will be out of there. On the referral links, I guess it depends on how persistent they are ( very persistent is very annoying) and if they interact with me in any other way. I do have friends who will casually mention that they are having good results with such and such. Like I said, they are actually friends who respond to my posts and such. It is more like information shared over coffee.

Oh it will freak me out! The Koran one! And yes GardenGerty I know exactly what you mean, when you say, it is information shared over coffee, This one was the whole infomercial 'documentary' on my home page, almost a novel long!

Thanks for best response. I have been "housekeeping" this week, as I was looking to see if a particular person was on my friend list. I got a pm from someone I do not even know. I asked myLot about that just now. I am down at least a page on "friends" but mostly because they have not been active in over a month.

I have not really experienced this situation here....but I would not be happy about it if I did....Several of my friends PM me quite regularly...but not for something so lame as this...I would be offended... I do not blame you at all, my new friend.

Hi there tina... I'm a bit calmer today about it, it's just I spent a few dozen responses to her discussions and viola here she spams me not nice:D And I must add this is the first time something like this has happened to me, from a 'friend' I receive lots from my friends here but on a interaction way, but anyway she's gone and now it is one less to respond to! LoL!!!!

Yes, it has happened to me! I also deleted them immediateley. It just make you feel, they don't want to be your friend, and that we are being used. I don't come onto mylot that anymuch anymore, but have a couple of people that I consider good friends and reply to their posts. You are one of them. Sending you an email now!

I have this happen to me as far as pm's go. I have had people send me the same message over and over. They should be getting rid of people like this. Instead they are going after people that have a lot of money in their account. I have a friend who mylot owes $60 and they have made her account inaccessible and will not give her the $60. So she opens another account...and they steal a dollar right out of her account! This is happening to others, too. All the while, you have people spamming and doing nasty things, and they do not touch them! I do not believe this is a glitch or a quirk!

Same thing happened to me. And half of them starts with... can you help me please, etc. My good heart would put aside what I was doing and look at that pm.. only to realise it is some referral link. As a rule of thumb, I generally ignore people who send me referral links without me asking for it.

It only happened to me once but I thought let me start a discussion on it so as to nip it in the butt! And for others that are doing it to realize this is very annoying and uncalled for. I have very good money 'guru' friends that helped me tremendously, but never did they force themselves on me so blatantly like this one. And like GardenGerty says, if it is between friends where there is alot of interaction then it is like exchanging information over a cup of coffee:D

Just ignore them. (Though I still find myself irritated each time - especially when they come from some of the better friends. No conversation no nothing, first pm ever - though I know them well enough from discussions - it would be a referral link. I was like... *roll eyes*.

I couldnt agree more Anni, and sadly I have stopped coming here alot because of what I think is total spam, in messages, I will be going through my friends and deleting quite a few of it. I must admit I do send referral links in messages, but ones I have done that is to people I think might enjoy the place, and come to think about it, that was only hubpages, whihc I thoroughly enjoy! It is rude if not requested and is really an abuse of the "friends" system here.

I hate it when this happens, where are you going c - I hate it when this happens
Oh my friend my point exactly. GardenGerty summed it up so nicely, she said it is like exchanging information over a cup of coffee, but this one kept me busy with all her discussions that popped out every 5 minutes and then after about a dozen, she just sent this longgggggggg infomercial to my comment box, AND to my message box! Without even a Hi, she just copied and pasted the whole darn thing there! It's not such a bad thing but you know the type ignoring doesn't work for spammers so I thought I will start a discussion and hopefully she will see this and stop. Which I doubt very much, she will just move onto someone else!

I am picky about who I approve friends requests for. I did have that happen to me once. He posted in my comments after he sent me a message spamming me. I replied to him saying only if he signs up for one of my sites & was active in my downline. After a few days of nothing happening, I deleted his comment, removed him from my friends list, & went on a reporting spree on him. He did have several discussion (spam) that was against the MyLot guidelines, & they were deleted. Gee - that was fun, worth the earnings I was NOT earning in just posting.

Spamming is menace in the internet world and one can't avoid it. I too had the same experience from the so-called friends.

Hi Annie.. Yes honestly you are just right about that. Two things here, first you mentioned a very good point it is something i wanted 2 start a discussion about, which is friends whom you spent time and effort to respond to their discussion and not even a single comment or reply from them, in other words, you bothered urself to participate and put that effort but they did not even bother to leave at least a comment there, they never even show up and participate in the discussion u posted. Secondly the u have ur inbox loaded with msgs and websites on things that are not even relavant 2 ur circle of interests. I agree u can recommend a link 2 someone if he either requested that or u felt he needed it but elctronically abusing ur friend with bulk msgs damn i just can't stand it, but to some people here, myLot is a just place of making money, this is what concerns them the most, not the quality of the discussion so i guess that's why they won't bother 2 participate in ur discussions. I got some on my list like that and frankly speaking I feel disappointed coz the reason I have them on my list wasn't about money-making thing but mainly 2 have friends and exchange ideas and experiences. Yes it happened to me sometimes i used to receive in my inbox loads of forwards msgs that are not really a part of my interest. Thank you for the interesting topic.

You are damn right. And you said it just right. myLot is about interaction with people. Making money isn't a bad thing but you see the entire thing about myLot is interacting with people. How do you expect people to respond to you if you don't even participate in the discussions they make. You're absolutely right about the word 'selfish'. Thanx Anniee xxx..

Yes my friend there are lots of selfish people lately, and it is very disappointing to see some of them not only being selfish but greedy as well. I love my friends and MyLot for the interaction between people and I understand there are people here that are struggling financially. but then you should even be more unselfish and courteous, and that will make you rich in the end. The friends you make first, will later support you unconditionally, but it must come from within first!

This is not acceptable AT ALL, in fact no referral links should be posted unless they are requested. I really do not like when people post referral links on here when no one asked for them. It is wrong to get private messages with referral links when you didn't ask them. It is just called common knowledge to not do it. Pablo

I had a similar experience a few months ago. I added a person to my friends and the following day I got a lengthy message full of referral links. Of course, I deleted that person right away as if we do not have enough spam already in our email boxes. Now, I check the person's profile before accepting any friend request.

A good policy to check someone's profile, but not always fool prove, I checked her profile and at that stage she didn't seem like a spam-mer, until she released the beast within! LoL!!

I haven't experienced spamming on MyLot, ha ha I'm hardly here but my personal email box can't cope sometimes, even with a good software program the little suckers keep on slipping through! I just ignore it. But on a social site like this I think it is disgusting.

oh man... my e-mail adress is daily spammed by stupid matrimonial websites like hi5.com or other site's like this one, i have about 300 people in my yahoo messenger list, imagine all of them sending me crap... there are many people who just sign up , send e-mails to all of their list and after 1-2 days they don't even come back on that website, so what's the point of singing on so many websites...
