Are pre-school to 8 years old car seats mandatory in your country?
Booster seats are required for children under the age of eight, weighing 18 kg or more but less than 36 kg (40-80 lbs) and who stand less than 145 cm (4 feet 9 inches) tall.
A child can start using a seatbelt alone once any one of the following criteria is met:
child turns eight years old
child weighs 36 kg (80 lbs.)
child is 145 cm (4 feet 9 inches) tall.
My grand daughter will have to turn 8 before she weighs enough to go without LOL Tall and slim she is

Yes, Wendy, that is exactly how it is here. My grandson is just now getting to the point to not need a booster seat.

I am in canada and last I heard it used to be the same as you but the weight limit went upto 100lbs or145cm tall. The age has nothing to do with it here even if the child is 12yrs old and they don't meet one of the 2 requirements then they hare expected to sit in a booster seat. I think thats taking it a little too far but hey I don't make the rules LOL. they are now even requiring babies under 1yr to be rear facing.
