selecting and caring for fish

Me and my boyfriend are intersted in getting a fish tank and some saltwater fish. I have never had saltwater fish before, so I don't know how to care for and select fish to put in the tank. I was just wondering what kinds of fish you guys have and what kind of information you have on caring for them. I want a collection of very colorful fish.
