I was cleaning the counters in the kitchen and placed the kitchen cleaner on the counter behind me (you know where this is going don't you?). Unbeknownst to me, my son, climbed up the barstool (had no idea that he could do that) and got the cleaner. I heard him crying in the living room and went to investigate. His face was red and his eyes were swelling. I could see bubbles on his eye lashes. Imediately I knew what he had done. He accidently sprayed him self in the eyes with the cleaner. I made a mad dash with him to the kitchen sink to wash his eyes and face. Fortunately hs brother had to go to the doc so we got to the office and I had the doc look a his face and eyes. She said he would be fine but to rinse his eyes again thisafternoon. Poor guy. He keeps telling me Mommy Ow eyes ow! His poor little eyes are swollen and red. His face is still red where the chemical sprayed his skin. But he's going to be ok. I'm sure he will never do tht again. And I will never turn my back on my cleaners again. Goes t show you even if you think they can't reach them they always find a way to get it. Be wary and learn from my mistake!!!

OMG that is horrible. Poor little fellow. Good thing you rinsed his eyes out immediately. I know it only takes a second for these guys to investigate what they shouldn't. Glad to hear that he will be fine.

Thanks for marking me best response. Your discussion has made me more aware of where I place my cleaners when cleaning around.

Oh no that is terrible- Glad to hear that he is ok though- Quick thinking by you to rinse his eyes and skin- Alot of parents stress out when they see their kids hurt- I bet he won't do that again! You have to be very careful when dealing with chemicals around kids.

Did you know that there are cleaners that don't contain harmful chemicals? I have a daycare in our home and that is all I will buy with all these kids around here. E-mail me if you would like more info at molands81@yahoo.com

I swear kids can just do things so fast! Lucky for you were going to the doctor anyway that could have ended in an expensive trip to the ER. I have posion control on speed dial. My daughter seems to find everything under the sun to eat. She actually used that hand sanitizer to clean her mouth, her reasoning was good the dog had licked her. I panicked and call PC thank goodness they have to ingest a good amount before any damage is done.
However, I can tell you this Tylenol is the most dangerous medicine you can have in your cupboard it takes very little to cause major harm in little ones, so it is better if you can to switch to motrin.

I'm so glad that he'll be alright! That must have been scary for both of you. Little ones always seem to find some sort of trouble when we least expect it. I'm sure we've all had those moments of something bad happening when we turned our backs for a minute...or less.

Ahhh poor thing. I hope he gets to feeling better. It's hard when you just turn your back for a minute and they grab stuff like that. Especially when you didn't even know that he could climb on the barstool. Glad he is ok and hope his eyes and face start getting better so he isn't hurting anymore.
