Do you know someone with autism?

Hi donnaroos. I too have a 9 year old (very soon to be 10!) son who is autistic. I love the good stuff about autism (like how my son still loves to cuddle and hug, even in public), though I could do without the bad stuff (like him being non-verbal, not understanding his needs/wants, why he does certain things...like breaking things for no reason). The down days can be hard on the family (my younger son, their father/my husband, and myself), though somehow we get through it.

Hi there - my 13 year old nephew has Autism. I have to say that I am more surprised by him when we get to see him - when he was much younger - there was no connection - no response to anyone from him. Now he will acknowlege you - of course it's still his world - so you have to figure out how to fit in with him!!! He loves music and is extremely great at building things. Of course he's got a funny side to!!! He will tell his dad, brother & sister when to go to bed. To him 10pm means all lights out in the house!!! And if you turn any back on - he will come out and turn them all off again!!!
