can anyone teach me how to reformat a computer?

i have been observing and asking questions to people who know how to reformat a computer but still the steps are confusing and i always forget the things to do. can anyone give me step by step process of reformating and other things to install in my computer?

Just insert the windows xp cd inside (or whatever cd you have about windows) then just follow the instructions.
