I found a really great old letter in one of the horse books that I both read and collect. It's one of the Black Stallion series books by Walter Farley. The letter that was just folded and left in the book was a contest letter from 1952. It's a xerox copy of a letter from Walter Farley to all boys and girls who love horses and tells how he will choose two winners to get the major prize: a vacation at a horse riding camp for both one girl and one boy. He will also choose 50 kids to get a $20 gift certificate to some horse supply store. All they had to do is submit a name for the horse farm where Alec Ramsey and the Black stallion live and breed horses in the Black Stallion series. He was going to change the name of the farm.
Here's my question. Does anyone know of a way to find the winners of that contest?
I've done a search on the internet and really can't find out much of anything other than Walter Farley did three of these contests back then and I found two names. Ronnie, no last name, who submitted the name for the farm of Magic Acres. And also Tom Stone Jr. who picked the name of Meadow Mecca Farm.
I am just curious about the winners in this cool contest that I wish I'd been around for but I wasn't even born when it was conducted!
