I finally went and got my hearing checked today. I have no actually hearing loss which is good, but apparently I have a problem with processing information?! I can hear sound but the words don't form proberly so it seems to me as though I can't hear? Has anyone ever heard of this or suffer from it? I was told if I was younger they could do something but cos of my age there isn't much worth doing. I feel kind of let down but also relieved that I am not going deaf. I suppose I have lived with it forever so I'll just do what I always have and put up with it.

Old bat!! Have you been talking to my hubby? Apparently if I lived in America they could do something but here in OZ it's a no show. I still have selective deafness!!

Hmmm, I don't know whether I would be happy with this result or not. I'm thinking that I would rather have a hearing problem, at least they may be able to do something about it. So, 'cos you're an old woman now, they won't do anything about it. No, just kidding. Oh, well, good luck living with it, I'm sure your family will understand!

I cant say I am really all that happy. I hope my family do understand, I know I can get annoying always asking them to repeat themselves. Thanks muscare.:)

Sorry to hear about your results, but I'm so glad you finally got round to getting your hearing tested. Maybe I have this wrong, but it sounds me like you have the hearing equivalent of dyslexia...at least now you know what the problem is, which is kinda good, but it's sad there is nothing they can really do about it just because of your age (isn't that discrimination?). The kinda good thing as you mentioned was the fact that you have lived with this for a while so it's kinda easier for you to handle as you have adapted over the years if that makes sense. Well, as I mentioned when I urged you to get tested, if you need to talk drop me a PM, I'm here for you ok?

Yeah I agree I am not that old!! Though they didn't really tell me what they could have done if I was "younger" anyway. Thanks again.
