basketball: will spurs' basic playing keep them on top?

It has always been said for a long time that to be an NBA champion in these era, you have to get by the San Antonio Spurs.Their basic , fundamental basketball anchored on an excellent defense will keep them on the top 3 teams in the league for a while. at least for the next three years when their veterans can still compete.But,other teams will not be hard up catching them what with the quality of players in the league right now. One thing is sure, the Western Conference will be a lot tougher this year if no major player movements occur. Watch out for the newly-coached Houston Rockets, the Mavericks who will be a lot tougher, the Jazz with a Williams-Boozer combo and the Lakers if the other O'neal deal pushes through..
