I prefer DSLR because it gives you the control of a SLR but without the hassle of developing the camera film and the added perk of being able to see how the photo take resulted and simply delete it if you don't like it. Aditionally, you can vary the exposition, color, solarize, texturize and so on the shot taken without wasting photographic paper and being locked in a dark room with lots of chemicals.
The digicam is good because of its simple 'point and shoot' aproach and its size, so can very well carry it with you at anytime to capture memorable moments.

I like both as long as it is useful so i just use digital and manual. Digital is easy to use and the other is not but its alright its just a little work.

for the moment I have a canon digital camera... and I think is quite enough for the moment... I mean people shouldn'y buy professional cameras just because they have money... thei should start with start with a digital camera and learn from there (bottom-up)... cos there is a reason why professional cameras are called PROFESSIONAL:D

manual... better pictures, takes more talent, and ends up more rewarding.

I prefer the new DSLR models. I have a Canon Rebel XT DSLR. It is a great camera because you can use it fully automatic to full manual. It give you excellent creative control. It also has a video mode that takes alright video for what little I use of it. The photo below shows how you can use your creativity to produce a difficult photo.
