One of the differences I'm aware of is the Bible is the story of revelation to/through/of a nation of people and the Quran is a revelation to..etc.. an individual..
As far as the violence.. The laws of Israel and Old Testament were for Israel and the preservation and well being of the nation.. whereas Islamic Law I believe is supposed to become worldwide.

What I know of is that the Quran doesn't believe that Jesus is tha son of God but a prophet. Also the revelation in the Quran is different from the bible. If I am not mistaken, the Quran's revelation is simple compare to the complex revelation of the bible

I not only think it is fair--I think it is a must! Most of the accusations and name calling among all three religions, Jews, Muslims and Christians, is due to misunderstandings. How can a person say what a Muslim believes unless s/he has read their Holy book and vice versa? If you want to convert someone of another faith to your faith, then you'd better know what they believe and why they believe it!
I have not studied the Qu'ran because I don't spend enough time in my own scriptures, but if I were really serious about my own faith, I would study not only the Bible more but also the Qu'ran. Thare are many, many similar scriptures and many, many similar beliefs. Don't think that because some Muslims believe in violence that all of them do. There are fanatics in all faiths! I could cite history about a lot of people killed by "Christians" in the "name of God."

I COMPLETELY agree!!
Violence, predjudice, etc... are caused by misunderstanding. People can remove misunderstanding by learning how the other person feels, believes, does things, etc...
Unfortunately, Muslims are taugt that the Bible is fake, they not only won't read it, they won't touch it.

Faith includes knowledge. However, faith is more than knowledge. It's all about relationship with God to whom our heart-soul-body submit and surrender. It becomes our frame of reference to go our life, to face and deal with our problems, so on. It's so critical when a religion fells down into an ideology with its self-justifications. I think violence comes up from this case. Then Holy Scriptures are reduced just as books of informations that got lost of its spirit of love.
Oh My... how could people say that The Bible is a fake as it leads us to know God who Christians call "Our Father" (some feminists call "Our Mother")?

yes you should about other peoples faith before you judge them. but one thing is untrue. we are not taught that the bible is fake. it is a proven fact that words have been changed in the bible by men's hand which means they are not the words of god anymore. Having said that we believe only in the one and only original bible because those are the words of god and where is the proof that jesus never claimed he is god or anything else. I find it really confusing why people think that way - if jesus is god and mary the mother of god then what was before she was born ?????????? and god just exists and does not die or appear to people in human form so how does this all work?????????

you can compare anything with anything.. as the comparisons gives the similarities or difference in the things being compared..
if you want to find similarities means you must compare..
if you want to find differences means you must compare..
so there is nothing like fair or unfair in comparing bible and quran..

Thanks IL2Knit... I think we have to notice that: all religions teach us to treat others nice. Sometimes comparisons make us hate others if we are not open-minded. On the other hand, comparisons could make our living faith grows well when we know what we believe.
God bless!
(Is it your health condition, Mrs. IL2Knit? I wish your grandchild cheers you up always and makes you happy and better.)

I don't know about anyone else, but I really enjoy reading the Gnostic scriptures. There are many things from the bible, but they seem to go into greater detail. I also have a Book of Mormon because it was free, but it is interesting to read. I read many things from many religions to see which ones are similar and different.

Then, the thing is: what measurement should we use to judge that one is correct and another one is incorrect?

People make comparisons, we cannot do anything about that. But if we make comparisons to belittle one or the other, that's not good. We have freedom of religion and it's up to each one of us to select the religion he/she wants to embrace. The Holy Bible is the standard followed in Christianity while the Quran in Islam; the Book of Mormons by the Mormons, etc. Many of us want to learn and we can learn by comparing one with the other. I don't think it is at all unfair to compare not only the Bible with the Koran but anything. But we should avoid looking down at what we see.

its not all about comparision its actually that we do accept Bible to be God's word and they don't accept Quran to be the same so t6he comparison actually is to prove the fact.

To me, it'd be fair to compare them on may grounds,
1. on their ideological differences and similarities. the Bible may talk about some believes and values which the QUARAN may have different expressions from those of the bible. and the vice versa is of the similarities.
2. the peronalities involved in the Holy books and their ideology of what God demands from his people.
3. the period and scenes of these books.
4. For they're all considered as HOLY BOOKS.
i think comparison can be made on grounds of winning souls for one party and not on dispute stands. i've ever heard the malam compared verses of the two Holy books on grounds of similarities and shown that we're all fighting for the same place or destination. this is my stand.

Do we really have to ?, I think there's no need to compare those two. Each religion has it's own holy book and it's own believe. So far,as I know all religion teach good things. It all depend on how the believer react. But still I have to admit that in order to understand how the religion believer feel about their faith, we must read their holy book. I'm a catholic, but sometime I read islamic literature ( which is written in indonesian language of course, coz' i'm an indonesian and I can't read the arabic version )not to compare it to what I believe, I just curios and somehow try to understand how they feel about their faith, then I have the benefit in knowing how to behave to respect them and what they believe. Some people say " Your religion is yours and mine is mine" and I agree.

both the books are from almighty god.it dosent make any different if there is difference.
the bible was revealed at the people at that time according to their capicity to understand.and the quraan was revealed according to the people at that time and according to their understanding capicity.
all the prophits are the lake doctors whose aim is to treat the patient no metter wht disease they have-- they treat them by different medicine.bible was right for the peaple at that time quraan is right for the people at this time. so the fight is over.both are the words of almighty
