i prefer black and white photos. they seem more dramatic to me, and the photos that can usually make me tear up are those in black and white. remember that photo of soldiers putting up the flag in iwo jima? that photo gives me a lump in my throat every time, even though i know that that was fixed.

I love photos and whatever the color set-up is, I find it valuable because a picture captures a memory in the best detail possible. I agree that black and white photos have in it the 'emotional touch' as it seems more like a 'back in time' mood (and sepia too..). Colored pictures on the other hand are best for lively scenes and moments.

I haven't seen the Iwo Jima photo..so i daren't comment on that..But i generally like colored photos bcoz they seem more lively and cheerful to me...Also they denote the present day events...but the black and white photos,i believe are good for showing past events....b'coz whenever we see a black an white, our mind invariably runs to the distant past where things were not so colorful as now

I suppose, for me, it depends on the purpose of the photo. If I am wanting to capture moments to remember, color is more immediate. But if I'm looking for artful photos, black and white is more dramatic and static.
I have a friend who does black and white photography, including her own developing, etc. It is most effective when going for a specific effect. But some photos cry out for color.

I personally like black and white. It has a more "classy" look about them
