My mom used to always give us gifts tagged, "From Santa." Even after I was out of the house and off to college.

Father Christmas in my garden - The spirit of Christmas
Well, I am what you might call a 'professional Santa' - I have a job at the local garden centre being Father Christmas - so of course I believe in Father Christmas!I explain it like this:You know on a windy day how you look out of the window and say "Goodness! Look at the wind!" What you are seeing, of course, is not the wind but the trees bent by it, the rain sheeting down or the clouds scudding. We can never actually see the wind!Santa is something like that. You see a man dressed up in a red suit and a beard and you say "Oh look! It's Santa!" He says "Ho, ho, ho!" and asks you your name and what you want for Christmas and is (one hopes) just a very nice, kind gentleman who is exhibiting the Spirit of Christmas as a time of warmth and love and rejoicing expressed by the giving and receiving of gifts, the family get-togethers, and remembering and reflecting on (if you are so inclined) the story of the birth of Jesus. Now that kind old gentleman may, in real life, be just as crabby and cantankerous as any other old gentleman but put him in a red suit and he is somehow different - he is changed and borrows the spirit of the season from a vast resource which blows unseen and catches up most of us in its eddies. That is why you can see many Santa's. Of course they can't be all the same person, the real Santa, yet, in a strange way, they are!

That's unfortunate! My son (6 years old) found something I was hiding last week. So, instead of a Christmas gift, it's now a birthday gift for my other son. I believe that Santa is a spirit of Christmas. It's in everyone. The spirit of giving. So, in a way, I still believe in Santa Claus. Even if he isn't real in the physical sense.

I do not believe in Santa because the reason for the Christmas season is not to get presents or anything, but to remember the birth of Jesus CHrist.

Ofcourse I'm older now so no I don't actually believe in a man in a big red suit and long white beard that leaves Xmas presents the night before christmas to those of us who have been good this year...but I do believe in the spirit of Santa Claus in all of us. The happiness and excited it brings to my children every Xmas morning and all the days leading up to it. Some of my fondest memories are when I believed in Santa. My husband who is twenty eight still swears up and down that he saw him and heard the reindeer on the roof. Of course his dad would go all out. He loved this time of year. I remember my husband recalled his dad sneaking away and then later on that night on Xmas Eve they would hear a knock at the door which was their dad knocking on the wall close to the door when they weren't paying attention... and when they opened it there was a bag of presents on the porch and there dad would say Santa was hear and they listen for the reindeer. And now we do crazy stuff like that with our own. My daughter who is 8 knows he is not real but still likes to pretend.
