Absence diminishes little passions and increases great ones, as wind extinguishes candles and fans a fire.
-Francois de la Rochefoucauld
Personally, when I read this I think of long distance relationships or any time a couple needs to be apart. The absence will weaken and ruin a poor relationship, but it can strengthen a strong one. My husband and I carried on a long distance relationship in the beginning and it really helped us to appreciate having each other around once we lived in the same city.

I am like you...The little passions we take for granted, but when absent from each other they grow. The Wind will blow out just a small light of a candle but it will spread a fire. Again the small things don't mean too much to us when we have it every day, but once we are without the earge for that need increases.
I too had a long distance relations ship and I relate this quote to teh same.
