Anybody seen it? We bought it and watched it last night for our family movie night. It was cute. Meryl Streep is a wonderful "dragon lady" and Anne Hathaway is just as cute as she can be. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. It's nothing spectacular, no special effects, just a good, family movie that actually has a lesson on climbing the ladder to success and stepping on people to do it that can open up a dialogue with your kids, if you do that sort of thing (we do)

I totally enjoyed this movie! I have seen it a couple of times now. I really enjoyed Ann Hathaway in the movies she plays in. I heard though that she was also in BrokeBack Mountain. That one I have not seen.

i haven't either, and probably won't. I'm not into cowboy movies, and it just didn't look appealing to me at all.

I prefer comedies to anything drama or action most of the time. There are a few exceptions. I love all the old war movies... Have you seen flyboys? We bought it, but i've not had a chance to watch it yet.

My husband's question was: Have you ever seen a Meryl Streep movie that wasn't? He has a good point.

Me either. Have you ever seen Julia? She made this movie in 1977 and it's about the anti-Nazi movement of WWII. Very good...get the kleenex.

Yes, this was a fantastic movie. It shows what a person can do when committed to succeed and what they lose while doing it. Meryl Streep did a wonderful job in this movie, but then she always does. The cost of success is not always what we want but what we end up with or should I say without. Kudos to the writers.

There were some great life lessons in that movie that you could talk to your kids about. My favorite lesson that my daughter pointed out was this: that you may get ahead for awhile if you hurt the people that you're closest to, but in the long run...you will lose.

I haven't read the book. To be honest, I didn't know th book even existed until i stared this discussion! Now how funny is that? I'm surprised, because I usually come across those things either in the movie bio's or on the library shelf.

Yep there's a book. You should read it. ^_^ You'll appreciate the movie more after reading it instead of the other way around. =)

No I haven't seen it. My girls want to though. They are both big Jane Austen fans as well. she isn't really an author that I care for. Just personal preference. I prefer modern romance or detective stories. Love John Grisham and James Patterson. Also like Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

I noticed that it was on one of the cable movie channels last week. Not one of the premium channels, but I want to say USA or TBS. We have it on DVD, so I wasn't about to watch it with all the commercials stuck in it.

Gosh,, I have never heard of that title, but I have not watched any new movies for a long while. If I had come across the title else where I would have assumed it was about the devil and something that I would not be interested in. However having read your discussion I will look it up and see what further reviews that I can find . I like to look up movies on the website run by Focus on the Family. It is found at http://www.luggedinonline.com/movies

I will definately check this out. I try to research movies that I'm not sure about before allowing my kids to go see them without me. At least if I'm there and something comes up then we can discuss it right then.

yes, they were. There were a few that I went. OOHHH who would wear that. Then they would come up with something, and I would say, Oh, I wish I could wear that!

Having two teenaged girls in the house gave it a different spin entirely. They were all about the clothes that she was wearing, and some of the things the models had on. Some of them they liked and others they went YUCK.

I like that movie. First, it reminds to my previous boss..LOL. She was sweet but sometimes she can be as mean as Meryl Streep there. Honestly, profesional is profesional, but sometimes sacrifice your family for boosting a career just sad. This story give you an insight how family and career can't get along sometimes. You need to choose between two. And this shows how cruel business can really be.

Yes it did. I loved the stunned look on Anne Hathaway's face when she realized that she had stepped on her friend...to get to the top. What a life lesson to share with your children.

it was surely a good movie but i think the best part about it is MERYL STREEP.If she had not been in the movie then i think that i woudn't have loved it at all.She literally gave a new dimension to her character Miranda. Some think that the character was based on a real vogue editor but Meryl has repeatedly denied it because it is not at all fair to give all the credit to a person who has not dedicated to Meryl's character in the movie.I think it was Meryl's own perception of the character which is abosolute genius!
