Love Fishing

I really love fishing, and I used to fish almost 7 days a week. My wife hates fishing, and since I've gained some weight and my wife can't stand to even look at me after 35 years of marriage, I don't fish anymore. I'm afraid that if I go fishing that she will leave me. I really love her, and could not live without her. I miss fishing so very much. I once fished behind Bill Dance, who has his own fishing show, and out fished him. I wish that I could lose some weight so my wife would not be so disgusted with me, and that I could once again go fishing the way I used to go. Fishing is the most relaxing thing there is to do in life.

my friend. that is truly a sad tale. i love to fish. my fiance doesn't. she just does it to spend time with me, because she knows i will make sure she catches something. your wife should let you out to go fishing. you would lose some weight. try talking to her about it.

Explain to your wife that fishing will help you drop some of the weight. Being active outside doing whatever is better than being couped up in the house.

Sweetie, I am so sorry you are in this situation. I wouldn't think of leaving my husband for fishing. Maybe for not taking me with him....LOL I'm not sure where you are, but I think you would lose some weight if you went back out. Casting, reeling, walking to the fishing hole....those are all burning calories and fat off. Does your wife really like you being this miserable? Doesn't she have any hobbies outside the home? Why can't you do the ONE hobby that you really enjoy?

See you want him to take you with him. My wife absolutely hates fishing, which is my favorite thing to do. I would rather fish than do anything else. I am afraid that my wife would leave me if I spent a lot of time fishing. I used to fish almost 7 days a week and I think she resented me for it. Now that I have gained a lot of weight, and she is still shapely and beautiful, I am afraid to go fishing and upset her. I could not survive without my wife. If she left me, I would kill myself.

Well, is there anything she would want to do while you were fishing? Lay out in the sun or swim or look for shells? Does she have any hobbies that she goes out and does? Maybe you could go fishing while she does HER hobby?

Fishing is relaxing.I agree. Where do you usually go? I think I have responded to one of your previous posts before. How are you getting on? Ever tried to convince her to follow you for one of the fishing trips? Maybe you should do something nice, out of the blue for her. :p

I couldnt imagine being in your situation, though if I were I would try and find some compromise that would still allow me to go fishing.

It is my fault that I gained the weight, and my wife thinks that the time I would spend fishing is waisted time. I love fishing, above all else. I just won't fish any more, if it means that I will damage my relationship with my wife. I don't have anything else that means anything to me. If I lose my wife, I will kill myself. Life is just a short part of existence. What is waiting on the other side has to be better.

I can understand your thoughts there, as much as I like fishing, I dont put fishing ahead of things like supporting my family.
