Why Jesus Is Cool

Some people believe he never existed and others credit him with all sorts of things he never did or said. Jesus was not viewed in his time as some sort of fearsome or great religions leader. In fact, the authorities had no idea what he even looked like (they paid Judas to identify him, so the story goes). No matter what though, he didn't back down and died for what he believed in. Here is the reason I think Jesus (real or not) was cool: 1. He brought to us the previously unheard of idea that we are responsible for other people; That we need to be charitable and help those in need. Previously, it was believed that people were only responsible for family members, prior to that. 2. He did not hesitate to point out that many of those running the churches were hypocrites. 3. He frequently dissed the privileged classes. 4. He challenged authority. 5. He believed and taught that people should behave accord to moral standards and not blindly follow laws. 6. He told people to pick the log out of their own eye before picking the splinter out of someone else's eye. Don't judge others. 7. He hung out with hookers and other undesirables because he judged them on what was inside, not what they had done in the past. 8. He loved children and warned anyone who harmed them they'd answer for it. 9. In spite of what many people claim, there WERE women desciples working for Christ and they are mentioned in the New Testament. Working with woman and allowing them to teach was unheard of before this. If you believe the entire story of his life, also realize that Christ was born to a woman, God could have certainly just made him just appear, couldn't he have? And he appeared first to a woman when he rose from the dead.
