Where do you learn to kill and maim for the sake of GOD?
A recent documentary on the History channel sheds light on the atrocities recorded in the Bible and how the heroes are more like terrorists vying for control.
One nation against the other creates conflict in our world when at a time energy and resources should be directed in different ways to prevent mass destruction.
We need to develop means to help each other.
Probably one of the truths that can be learned from the bible is the history of war in the name of GOD. A documented history of conflict between nations.
The way to break the conflict would be to break the Bible into associative parts. One teaching of Love and another exposing the warrior mentality of people driven to kill even their own children. The lives of many have been affected by this book from past to present. Let's stop the insanity so the future doesn't repeat the mistakes of the past.

Well for me Jesus never picked up a sword and said kill thy enemy. So god willing thats the path I hope to follow. Its not an easy one to say love your enemies or forgive those around you who have hurt you, but it just might make peoples lives a little better if your spread peace instead of more violence and destruction is my thinking. I am a hot headed person and its hard to not just react instead of trying to be the voice of reason but I am trying.

Jesus was not always so easy going. He to had his moments.
But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and slaughter them in my presence. [spoken by Jesus as a parable] (Luke 19:27 NRS)

Chiang_Mai_boy, most people agree that this parable has to do with the day of rapture. It doesnt say men will do these things it says god will. As far as trying to say he was hot headed I wonder if you were nailed to a cross and were breathing your last words could you ask for forgiveness not for yourself but that those who put you there might be forgiven? Thats a pretty tuff pill to swallow and I am sure I would have a hard time doing it myself, instead of cursing them with my dying breath.

War in the name of god, Whats wrong with that? How else are going to get people to die and be maimed for free. People are so stupid they usually deserve what they get.

If you mean garbage picker, we are twins, we are both natural born clowns. She is a born again bible thumper and I am a born again puckerstring. She prays for me and I pray that her prayers are heard.Probably not to long from now I am going to need an intermedary to get me through the squirrley gates, you know where the nuts go when they die. There was no typo. I am irritating and annoying but I refuse to get foul unless it has something to do with bathroom habits.

It's a long time since I've read the Bible and an even longer time since I actually believed any of it but I remember the conflicting messages as far as love and aggression are concerned. Not surprising as it was written by a bunch of different people so they will all have had their own idea as to what makes a good story. People tend to latch onto the bits of the Bible that fit well with their own view of the world and unfortunately an alarming number seem to prefer the vengeful elements rather than the more constructive "peace and love" aspects.

Again I fully agree with you, if I was aboriginal and some immigrants of different color skin came to my country and tried to sell me their divine right above all that I knew, calling my land a wilderness and the people of the land savages. I would have a hard time accepting this supposed truth that I would know doesn't exist. I would see the fork in the tongue and the double speak and I would know!
Many have known, and many have been brainwashed to believe a false myth that has been sold to all of mankind, to make the blood boil between the real truth sayers and the liars that crave power and control and have some man made authority given to them by their crony friends.
I found the Bible to be a book full of lies, and if the writings of the Bible are really words controlled by GOD using the hands of men and women, the truth is the Bible has a bunch of flaws and errors. Let's look into the Gospel of Mark and see how the sentences are constructed, surely GOD would write clearly and legibly. That could be a post for another day, searching the Bible for gramatical errors.

Bible is an account of errors from the part of humanity, and re-establishment of righteousness from the part of God. Looking at grammatical errors in the Bible cannot make it less credible. Human errors are there in lexical transmission, even in our post-modern technologically advanced age. Those poor scribes who took utmost care in writing and coying can be excused for grammatical errors in the Bible. Are those errors, an obstacle to my faith?
In fact, they encourage me. Human beings, are never perfect, even though we all strive to be.

Thou shall not Kill is one of the commandments the Israelites received before entering Canaan. Later they were told to kill the inhabitants of Canaan to possess the land. There is a controdiction here. I think the commandment of Yahweh not to kill is a valid one. The fact that Israelites killed the Canaanites and attributed to Yahweh, the injunction to kill is also got written down.

I read that also, it is exactly what I'm talking about. Who gave the order to kill? Was it GOD or was it Joshua and the men leading the Israelites?
I think, and I see, so what I hear should be true but often times I find a lie that needs to be exposed.
How many people have their eyes closed to the will of GOD and have hardened hearts?
GOD has a will for us to live in peace.
Are we living in peace?

The Bible should be rated X with the all of the content being murder, rape, incest, war, greed, conspiracy, and treachery of all types.
Isn't it shocking that people teach that crap to their children and teach their children to teach that to their children?
No wonder the human race hasn't evolved into more compassionate beings.
We have high tech now with the same horrid behavior as 5000 years ago.

It is the same cycle and finding the triggers to take us to the next same stop that we've been to before is simple. We just need to have spiritual minds.
Follow the link above and see what many miss or justify by obscuring the truth.
A real truth is a fact! Yes, we keep teaching barbaric behavior and lies and wonder why we have children that disrespect us... They know and learn quickly...

Yes war is insanity! And horrible.. hard to believe it even exists. One day man will look back and aghast at what humanity once was like. And all too often there are those who will abuse the people, even doing genocides, maimings and leaving mass graves about! The thing about the ancient history of the bible as viewed by modern man is they always forget to mention that the nations they went against were folks who were regularly practicing human and child sacrifice, and yes, I guess the deity wanted those people gone from the roots of the world, til the latter resurrection day, when all will be resurrected and participate in the long day of the examination of all things..

The human race will destroy the Earth before they will look back. Humans need to control themselves.
And that will never happen.

God promised to Abraham a land flowing with milk and honey and the Israelites became slaves in Egypt for 400 years. When God's time came, He led out His people the Israelites from Egypt into the promised land which were populated as God preferred to populate such land with people rather than beasts. God did not like His people to be mixed with the Gentiles and so He commanded the Israelites to kill all the inhabitants of such places including animals (the Israelites did not fully obey and so they encountered problems). God has plans and His command was not a mistake - that's what He wanted and He is God. That was in the Old Testament.
In the New Testament, when the Israelites already received their respective inheritance through Joshua, God did no longer command the Israelites to kill. Even in the Old Testament, killing is forbidden, that is in the Ten Commandments.
There's no problem if we understand the Holy Bible and to understand it, we have to study it very well.

Hey,
I think the entire popultaion of evolved spirits are tryin this to explain this to the wrold. But, the only problem is these people are not ready to comphrehend things with open mind.
We need to enroll them for an open mind converstion, but the problem is their mind is so tightly closed and hypnotised that its next to impossible.

Hey GreatWhiteBuffalo - I think I saw the same documentary. I truly believe that watching some of the programs on these learning channels is important so that maybe it can give some the ability to see the Bible in a more modern type of scenario. I read the Bible daily going from the New Testament back to the Old Testament and then vicey versie. I do enjoy the documentaries, but it does not change my mind at all about how I feel about the Greatest Story Ever Told. I still believe it, always will, and am extremely glad that I have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. This comes from a man who was once a devout Conservative Jew. Oh by the way, I am not Greek, not Canaanite, not a Hebrew. I am certainly not a Jews for Jesus either. What I am according to my church is a Completed Jew. How do you like that one? Also, it is ashame that Muslims, Jews and Christians are all fighting one another when they do all come from the same father.
Thanks for the discussion.

You're welcome, if you're interested in finding some of the flaws that I've already exposed and printed on a blog found here:

Take a look and keep an open mind, we need people to work together and to help each other tell the truth.

Not all who read the Bible comes in full understanding with it.
It was a gift from God to whom He sent as a messenger,eg...apostles,preacher...etc..Bible is a book portrying the whole world...battle of good againts evil...man of God and Satan's cohorts...man who believes in God...man who hates God...war..love..hunger...abundance....and the whole pic of the world...No other book can compare to Bible. Archaelogy, history, science and many other field could attest to credibility of the Bible. The Bible have many predictions that had really happen that no other book in the world today have done better...
You know that God's thinking is far more higher than ours, as of comparisson b/w heaven and earth as Bible says.
Also as mentioned in the book of the Daniel 12:9-10,"And he said, Go thy way Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
....and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand".
As stated in the verse, the words (Bible) are closed up and sealed till the time of the end...the wise would gain understanding (at the time of the end; last days) that wicked shall not.
To answer all your queries in detail regarding the Bible, pls. visit this website...www.truthcaster.com or www.theoldpath.tv....in this site they regarded this man as "the super preacher of all times". This man has been tested for a long time for answering all kinds of questions about mankind, spirituality, etc..w/ the Bible as the sole basis.
He also answers the doubts of many regarding the contradictions they've notice in the Bible...DARE HIM! TEST HIM! DEBATE W/ HIM!!!!!! He might be "the wise that shall understand"....nothing to lose but rather gain...THANKS!

I believe that the judgement of GOD will include three parts.
1.) Those that live with the heart of GOD knowing GOD's righteousness. These people live as children, knowing GOD intimately, trusting the Love of GOD, as a personal truth and solid foundation.
2.) There are those that will be close to GOD but not having the heart of GOD, the contempt of GOD will be evident by their reward in heaven. This as good as they will get, is not hitting the mark, many will find this wide path.
3.) Cast out, those that have done evil will be cast out of existence, nothing matters for them that live this day like there will be no future and stealing the future from the poor innocent people that have been violated by the powers of this world. The government shall be upon their heads and the blood is found on their hands.
GOD's justice is beautiful, many will be lost, and it is not the fault of GOD that evil exists or has existed. Evil will not exist in Heaven.
The world could be a better place...

The way that I see it the sermon on the mount is much more complicated than this simple rule of law...
Help others, to tell the truth.
If we apply that to our lives we would improve the world beyond words and deeds, for our words would become our deeds.
