kwek kwek is some kind of streetfood which has been first famous in the streets of manila because it's cheap. it's just actually boiled egg, shelled and dipped in flour with an orange powder coloring. then, it is fried until the flour is cook. most people love this especially when dipped with vinegar-garlic-onion mixture. it's cheap, too and is usually eaten by those who are in a hurry. ... anne

I do like boiled eggs but the thing that i dont want eating KWEKKWEK is the matter of cleanliness, and i dont like the orange thing coated on it.. But when I am observing those people speacially the guy eating it, it looks so delicious and tasty..but of course Filipina are shy of eating the streets...unless she's with her friends who's also cowboys...

kwek-kwek or Tuknene!! It is a quail egg coated with flour. It is color orange due to color additives. It is really good especially if you dip it to special Vinegar mixture with spices. It can easily found in Pinas, you can see it on street stores and even at the Mall. But don't take too much of it for it might cause problem to your health because 1 kwek- kwek is equivalent to one regular chicken egg that we usually eat. Enjoy this exotic food of the Filipinos!

LOL! I see the many eggs covered with orange being cooked in the streets and many are buying. I have not tried it myself. I laugh because I don't know that the name of such is kwek-kwek. Pinoys are really good in everything in life.

lol. this discussion is really informative. i am from the philippines, but i haven't ever tried kwek-kwek. i always wanted to, though. especially when i saw Super Inggo eating it.. lol.. I knew it was egg, but i really didn't think it was covered with batter.. i always wondered why it was colored orange.. lol. i would want to taste one, one of these days. I wonder where i can get one.. =D

i've read the response of our fellow myloters there above me.... yes it does taste good but you can buy it on places where the cooking process is clean. the egg they are using has 3 kinds quail eggs, chicken eggs and duck eggs. i love cooking this for my kids if i have the time or we buy it inside the mall or you can ask any Philippine restaurant iof they serve it then you can have a taste. enjoy.

Its very very good, one of my favorite street foods. Boiled quail chicken or duck egg covered with orange flour and deep fried. Dip with mixture of vinegar onion salt & garlic to be tasty. If you don't like to eat on the streets look for balot express they offer kwek-kwek, can be found in malls & food courts.
