Are you supposed to change your shampoo once in awhile? I thought I heard that somewhere. I was using redkin forever and then switched to dove and I bought that at costco so there was a ton and I've been using it close to a year! I just ran out, so I bought some herbal essensces stuff and omg it smells good. Is it better for your hair to change it up once in awhile or does it matter?

Yes-- they say you should change it up-- Keeps your hair healthier-- Why?? I don't know- I change mine up all the time- LOL I love Herbal Essance- It is so yummy smelling- I also use Dove- Intense moisture- and SunSilk at times- Pantene is what I'm using now- I switch all around depending on what the sale is- I stock up when there is a good sale and switch often!

i think it's because when we use just one brand, our hair will already be too used to it. and that we won't feel much change anymore. but changing gives the opportunity for our hair to adopt into something better from time to time... anne

I've been using the same shampoo (pert) and wire brush loofah for years and look what has happened to me. I used to have a thick mane of brown hair and now it's almost all gone...my advice is to change shampoos immediately before you meet the same fate

I often change my shampoo after finishing one..And I think it does matter..As the contents are different between one another, and so are their functions...Through changing it from time to time, it will do good for your hair...

I'm not 100% sure but i have heard that it is a good idea to change the brand you use every so often, from what i heard, your hair gets used to the chemicals in 1 shampoo so then it is less affective, changing to something different does a better job. I cant remember where i heard that but i know my Mum has mentioned it to me before as well so you & i mustn't be the only ones who have heard it from somewhere! I change my shampoos every bottle usually - when 1 bottle finishes, i find another one that looks or smells good & see how it goes & see if it does a good job or not.

I heard the same thing.I change it up almost everythime i get new stuff just to try out new smells and to see if there is something else that i like better. Right now i am using the Suave for brunettes shampoo and conditioner. I love the smell of the shampoo but then the conditioner has a different smell that i dont care for

Thats odd about the shampoo and conditioner smelling different! I didn't even know Suave made shampoos for different hair colors, that is interesting!

i don't stick with just one brand. i try other brands from time to time. it's only when we find something better when we try. there are times when i stick for a long period in one brand. but still, i make sure i try other brands, too. i owe it to myself atleast... anne

It is a good idea to change your shampoo and conditioner ever so often. It cannot hurt in any way. I try different ones all the time. St.Ives has very good ones too.

Do you evern notice how much nicer your hair feels, how shinier it is, and how it's more manageable when you get your hair washed at the beauty salon? It's not the expensive shampoo that's doing it, it's using something different. Shampoos tend to leave a buildup and changing them will get rid of that buildup - for a while, until the new one builds up again. I used to have at least 3 different shampoos in the shower to alternate all the time and it helped keep my hair nice, shiny, manageable, soft - all that just-out-of-the-salon feel. Then I tried a new shampoos (Envia by Melalecua) that doesn't leave a buildup. I've been using it exclusively for 8 months and my hair always feels/looks just out of the salon!

My hairdresser told me that you are supposed to change your shampoo and your conditioner with every bottle you buy to keep your hair healthy as it causes a build up when you use the same thing all the time . I always have a couple of different bottles here and just grab whatever . I love the herbal essence because it really does smell nice and love the way it makes my hair look after it is washed . You can get the herbal essensce as well and it works just as nice .

I used to use suave, and then switched to herbal esscences. Now i've went from that to pantene, then again to garnier fruticse. I find that the pantene and the garnier are the best i've had, but i'm fixing to switch again due to prices. Its just whats affordable really, I like the ones with very healthy conditioners.

I heard that shampoo is bad for your hair. It is a detergent that strips the oils out. You must use a conditioner afterward to replace what was taken out by the shampoo.

I have also heard that this is true. I try to stock up on different shampoos when they go on sale or if I have a really good coupon. So, when one bottle is empty, I just go to the supply closet and choose a different one. If it is an economy bottle that we use, it lasts for quite a while, and I do seem to feel a difference in my hair once we switch to another kind. It always feels softer and looks shinier, but then that just could be me!

i change my shampoo every 1 bottle. I change the brand, the flavour, the aroma, or anything... i can't use more than 1 bottle per shampoo. cos my hair always getting bad if i use 1 type of shampoo everytime. n my scalp getting itchy. i hate that. so i try to use new shampoo ... almost try every band here in my country :)

You should use a clarifying shampoo on occasion, not regularly, to remove buildup caused by shampoo, especially if you use the lower cost ones because they contain tons of wax.

A long time ago I read that you are supposed to change shampoos every so often only I don't remember how long that is! I do it every few months and watch for favorites to go on sale. So far Dove is my favorite.
