My house looks a mess!

I was looking around my kitchen today, and noticed how everything seems to be looking messier than usual. Honestly, I have no idea how that happened, cause I'm always cleaning. I think it's because my husband loves rescuing things from the local second hand shop. He thinks I have magical powers to restore even the most worn down piece of junk.
Well, long story short. I don't have aforementioned powers. So, my house ends up looking pieced together. This is what I get for letting my husband be in charge of decorating!
Guess it's time to dejunk! So, that's how I'll be spending my upcoming week. Wish me luck. Any tips you have on getting organized, would be much appreciated.

My sister's husband also likes buying things from our local second hand shop and car boot sales. It does not matter if there is room for them. He just eye for a bargain. He is currently fitting new kitchen units. This is challenging because of all the clutter in there.
I think it is better to have racks of the wall for objects like kitchen roll, dish washing towels, salt, pepper and herbs. A bit can be kept on the floor or hidden away in a cupboard. It is good to eat then wash the saucepans, plates and cups straight after eating. It is a good idea to clear out the grocery cupboard and fridge once a week. Then you will have a clear idea if you need to add anything to your shopping list. De-cluttering is a must as well. Good luck.

I can't really help you with that, being a complete mess myself. Only tip I got is, if you haven't touched something for over 2 years, be honest to yourself and don't think you'll ever use it again. And it applies to clothes as well!!!
Good luck with you organization!
and remember... MESS IS THE MOTOR OF CREATIVITY.

For someone who claims to know nothing about good housekeeping and organization, those are some pretty good tips! Thank you!

Do my husband know your husband ???...hehehe, because the same thing happend to me when I left my husband for a family visit vacation a while ago. He was doing an "extreme house make over". I admired his DIY skill but I can't say the same to his DIY house decorating skill....phew.
So, I tell you what I did. Give your husband a hug and said that he's doing a good job and that you appreciated what he did. After that, one by one everyday makes things that you husband decorated back to where it belongs or dissappear. But remember...one by one !!! Good luck !!!

Funny how the mess just sort of sneaks up on you like that and all of a sudden you take a look around and see what is around you! I usually tend to pick a specific area that I want to clean, and keep the area small... so something like a drawer or one section of the countertop. I go through that section and either pitch, find a better home or put in a pile to be put back in the room at the end of the organizing session. Then I move onto the next section. After all the sections are done, I go back to my pile of things that need to go back in the room. If I can't find a home for them in the room or somewhere else in the house, I get rid of it. Good luck with your organizing!

Good luck with your housecleaning as I hope there is not as much as it there appears to be. I am sure that you did not make the mess so make sure your husband helps you with cleaning. You may have to give him instructions on how to keep your house looking clean. :-) I need to do some housecleaning as well so I better get busy myself. I know it has to be annoying when your house gets a mess after you just cleaned it.
